ANOTHER PRESCRIPTION FROM THE Dr....

Since my former post about Dr Scholl , i've found another pair .It has been hard to date this set, as very few info surfaced from my researches on the net ,but some elements made me lean toward a late 30's early 40's date.Any additional info on the brand and model will be welcome They are new old stock and the beautiful patina,is just the result of heavy oxydation of its hide .Never polished them ,i've just dust them off......

Got it yesterday it has a beautiful light patina on its canvas but needs a little TLC and a set of buttons...more or less an hour of patient hand sewing in front of your favorite tv show ...no branding here but who cares!? leather reinforced shoulders are not that common for such a coat .Will be a better fit for a 42R,so i might let it go.If you're interested leave a comment and your email ......

A NICE PAIR....40'S KNAPP BROS. ANKLE BOOTS

Not much really surfaced from a quick search on the net .Curious for a brand that made up to 12.000 pair of shoes a day in their factories .The brand was co founded by Elwin and Clarence Knapp in 1921 in Maine.the brand's sales declined in the 60's but KNAPP BROS.came back on the map,by using a "door to door" and direct mail order approach in the 70's "Because of its outstanding reputation for superior craftsmanship, quality, comfort and durability, Knapp became the largest direct selling company in the world......

Well !!!nothing really spectacular today,but i thought it was worth sharing before its departure to the land of the rising sun.

Early PENDLETON shirts are getting harder to find and even more in descent condition,so if you find one at your local thrift ,just grab it.

In 1912,the PENDLETON company began expanding their line into other woolen products such as clothing. the company opened a weaving mill in Washougal, Washington [across the river from Portland] for the production of woolen fabrics used in suits and coats.

By 1924 the company started a new product line of men’s woolen sport shirts in plain bright colors and plaid patterns. Prior to that time woolen shirts had been considered work shirts and came in mostly dull colors,mostly gray navy or brown.By the 30's the company was producing a full line of woolen sportswear.As Pendleton Woolen Mills devoted most of its production to blankets, uniforms and clothing for the US military services,early to mid 40's shirts are almost impossible to find . It was after the war ,that the market expanded to women’s sportswear.It was also around that time,that the tag changed and the shirt's size was embroidered on,before it was printed on a separate piece of cotton sewn underneath the tag .In the mid 60's the modern sizing S,M,L,XL was introduced and the "all wool logo"appeared in the 70's.......

While the rest of the country was covered with snow ,we've enjoyed a nice and sunny"super bowl sunday" .It was also the monthly big antique show here in the baie. Found a couple of items,but i must admit ,nothing will top this find for a while.In all these years of collecting USAAF i've never seen a complete set of regulation aviator sunglasses including the stock cardboard box that is .
